Those of us who regularly handle lead know how black our hands get while working with it. Keeping one's hands free of lead and other heavy metal contamination is probably the single most effective way to keep lead and other toxins out of the blood. The fact that lead transported on the hands can come in contact with food, drink, cosmetics, cigarettes and other similar items makes clear the need for good personal hygiene. However, making hygiene part of the regular routine can be difficult.

How often during the day does one stop to help a coworker, answer the phone or do something as seemingly harmless as reaching into a pocket for some change? Perhaps by the end of each day and after repeated washings, one’s hands can begin to feel chapped from the harsh soaps and cleansers. Does this sound familiar?

Clean-All Heavy Metals Soap is designed to remove residue from heavy metals such as lead and leave the hands feeling soft. The formula used to make this soap relies on a chemical process that bonds with the metals, making it possible for the mild detergent in the soap to wash the residue away. The soap contains no harsh solvents, abrasive or phosphates to irritate or chap the hands. Emollients and conditioners are included in the formula so that skin feels soft even after repeated washings.

We tested this soap in a number of studios around the country. Everyone who used the soap was impressed with how well it cleaned and how gentle it was on their hands. In tests using sodium sulfide as an indicator of the presence of lead, Clean-All removed all visible traces of lead while other soaps left visible toxic residue behind.

It is recommended that you wash using a brush to make sure the lead is removed from under your fingernails and to help remove ground in contamination. This soap produces a powerful lather that helps to remove the chemically bonded heavy metal residue. It can be used in the shower as a total body soap.

Workers who used it felt confident that their hands were free of toxic residue and were pleased that their employer had switched to this soap. Blood lead levels of studio workers showed a decrease over the time in which the soap was used.
